The Craigwell Hotel
Wake up to the beauty of Morecambe Bay

Our Environmental Policy

The Craigwell is in a stunning position overlooking Morecambe Bay and we care greatly about the environment and minimising the environmental impact of our activities. An example of this is our membership of the Green Tourism Business Scheme. Some of the steps we have taken are:-

  •  All the food we serve is produced or sourced locally, unless it is Fair Trade
  •  We try to minimise the use of portion packs
  • We are replacing all light bulbs with low energy alternatives.
  •  We have installed a new energy efficient boiler for water and central heating and have fitted individual thermostats to each radiator.
  •  All cleaning is done with environmentally friendly products
  • We use refillable soap and shampoo containers in bedrooms and eco friendly complimentary toiletries
  •   We collect run off water for watering the garden and outdoor cleaning.
  •  We recycle paper/glass and plastic bottles from guest’s waste bins and hotel ones, also we recycle print cartridges.
  •  We use recycled paper products where possible.
  • We encourage our guests to reuse towels – we will replace them if they are placed in the shower or on the floor.
  •   We always have information about local transport, cycle hire and walks to allow you to leave your car parked during your stay.
  • Where possible we will collect guests from local stations. We have 2 bicycles available for the use of guests and provide free storage for those who bring their own.

If you would like to join us in our efforts

  • We invite you to switch off your lights when you are not using them.
  • We invite you to use water with car
  • You are also invited to turn off your television at the mains when you are not using it so that the little red light switches off.
